Dear Students:
Welcome to the Greenwich family!
Success in life largely depends upon the choices we make. I take this opportunity to congratulate you on making a sensible choice about your education by joining Greenwich University. This is indeed, a small step towards a big future.

Greenwich, as a seat of higher education, has already come to enjoy a distinctive place on the academic landscape of Pakistan. The reasons will become apparent to you soon.

Pakistan Today is passing through a defining phase of its history. While we should be rightly proud of our glorious Islamic heritage, we also have to equip ourselves, intellectually and morally, to cope with the challenges of the modern world of science and technology. We need to learn the difference between learning. from the past and living in the past. Dogmatism must yield to pragmatism

At Greenwich, we Endeavor to strike the right balance between the conflicting claims of Traditions, and the. Demands of modern hi-tech civilization. This requires a re-orientation of attitudes, a mind-set which approximates to the concept of Scotts Fitzgerald:

"The ability to hold two opposite ideas in one's mind, without losing ohm’s equilibrium".

The dynamics of education have undergone qualitative changes recent years. While everyone is agreed about the importance of acquiring greater knowledge of our material environment, few seem to realize the even deeper significance of attempting to acquire a better understanding of one's inner self. For the ancient Greeks, “know thyself" represented the first lesson towards acquiring wisdom. Ironically the need for greater knowledge of the self was never more intense than in today's mundane world. As Charlie Chaplin so prophetically warned through his immortal classic, "Modern Times", the man behind the machine would always be more important, Hence the need for devoting greater attention towards promoting the human resources of a society.

That, precisely, is what constitutes the philosophy of education at Greenwich: to produce a rounded personality, fortified with a variety of knowledge, and capable of tackling difficult situations with tact, grace, and equanimity. Towards that end, we provide you with all the prerequisites: a congenial ambience, a user _ friendly computer lab, a library well equipped with books, and the latest international journals and, above all a faculty which compares with the best available anywhere in the country.

In the global village in which we now live, Insular existence is no longer possible, Our integrated courses are designed enable the students to look at the larger picture.

From the new session, we propose to widen our academic horizon by setting up a new Faculty of Islamic learning, and through further expansion of our Development Studies program.

Our newsletter, G vision, which has a wide circulation in the corporate and educational sectors, will receive further impetus through the contribution of our budding creative scholars.

Higher education, without insisting on high standards, is a contradiction in terms. At Greenwich we do not compromise on quality. Since we wish to be judged by the highest academic standards, we have deliberately set high goals for ourselves - right from the admission stage to the award of the degree. We have discarded the obsolete teacher - centered teaching methodology in favor of the more inter-active student - centered approach, where the teacher is a facilator rather than a Mr Know-All. This makes learning a more thrilling, and purposeful activity.

Greenwich is not a destination, but the beginning of a voyage - of self-discovery, of knowledge, and indeed, of life itself. Our ideas may be summed up in tennyson's words:

To strive, to seek, to find,
--- and not to yield"

May Allah Bless You All !
